The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) reported that 65,499 new vehicles were sold in January 2024.

January Sees Surge in Commercial Vehicle Production

Although this marked a significant 31 per cent increase compared to the same month last year (50,168 units), it represented a 16 per cent decline from the previous month’s sales.

The sales in the commercial vehicle segment demonstrated a positive trend, with 6,105 units sold in January 2024. This marked an improvement from January 2023, which recorded sales of 5,582 units, which was a 9.5 per cent increased.

Production figures for commercial vehicles surged to 4,411 units during the month, reflecting a significant increase compared to the same period last year when production stood at 3,864 units.

In the upcoming month of February 2024, the MAA foresees a decrease in sales, citing the shorter working period owing to the Chinese New Year festivities as the primary reason.
