Truck & Bus News: Please share with us your views on the Malaysian retreading market and trends and issues that affect the market.
Wong said the local retreading market was declining with a few retreaders ceasing operation this year. These were not only small retreaders but also those who produced quite a number of retread tyres per month.
All interviewees face severe competition from new budget tyres that could only be used once. Wong noted customers switching from retreads to cheap and low-quality new tyres when they couldn’t justify the cost and value of retreads; they would rather buy budget tyres as the initial cost was lower. This was the main reason why some retreaders couldn’t survive. Kew added that these new tyres won mainly on price….

卡客车新闻：请谈谈您对大马翻新市场的看法，影响翻胎市场的趋势和问题。
黄经豪表示，本地的翻新市场正在下滑，有些翻新商今年已经停止运营。不仅是小规模的翻新商，还包括了一些每月产量相当大的业者。
所有受访者都面临着只能使用一次的合乎预算的新轮胎的激烈竞争。黄经豪指出，当客户无法证明翻新成本和价值合理时，他们就会从翻新轮胎转向廉价且低质量的新轮胎。他们宁愿购买合乎他们预算的轮胎，因为初始成本较低。这也是一些翻新者无法生存的主要原因。邱崠益补充说，这些新轮胎主要靠价格取胜。
