The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), the Ministry of Transport (MOT), and Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) held a counselling session on the Safety Advocacy Program — SAFERO with the management of KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd at Menara Bank Rakyat, Shah Alam, last month.
Government and Industry Leaders Partner to Elevate Selangor Fleet Safety Standards
The session was led by Masita binti Mat Isa, Deputy Director General of Operations of APAD, together with Dato’ Haji Ramli Mohd Tahir, Managing Director and Director of Operations of KDEB Waste Management, and Normah Basri, Head of Supply & Distribution at the Supply and Distribution Division of PDB.
APAD said the session aimed to strengthen strategic cooperation between the government and industry in improving operational safety standards, particularly involving waste collection and transportation services in Selangor. It served as a platform for the three parties to exchange views, strengthen understanding, and discuss efforts to raise safety awareness and cultivate a safety culture in road safety and vehicle operations.
The SAFERO programme operates on a risk-based approach, with targeted guidance and continuous improvement aimed at strengthening operators’ safety management. KDEB Waste Management is one of the pioneer operators in the first phase of the programme. The collaboration with PDB involved sharing expertise and best practices in operational safety management, in line with efforts to instil a continuous safety culture among industry players.
As the operator managing solid waste collection and transportation across Selangor, KDEB Waste Management said it prioritises the safety of its workforce, drivers, contractors, and road users. The company said the strategic collaboration with APAD and PDB through SAFERO reflects a shared commitment to strengthening safety culture and encouraging safer, more disciplined, and responsible operational practices, and that it will continue to reinforce a safety-first approach across all aspects of its operations.
APAD said it remains committed to strengthening cooperation with industry and strategic partners toward building a safe, resilient, and sustainable land transport ecosystem.
