Scania Malaysia Continues to Drive Change Through Training

Scania Malaysia, accredited as the Centre of National Dual Training System (NDTS) by the Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, took part in an MOU exchange with Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara Dusun Tua (IKTBNDT).

The exchange was done between Heba El Tarifi, Managing Director, Scania Southeast Asia, and Dalila Sharingat, Director of IKTBNDT. It was witnessed by Guest of Honour Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Dato’ Azumu, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, and Dr Joachim Bergstrőm, Swedish Ambassador to Malaysia, at the Institusi Latihan Kemahiran Belia dan Sukan (ILKBS) Career Fest Central Region 2022 that was held at AEON Mall, Nilai.

Scania is a global organisation with a proven track record in making an impact in the transport industry. The MOU represents Scania’s role as the employer of choice to those who are set to have a career in the heavy commercial vehicle Industry. Interested candidates on the NDTS certified training who join Scania’s journey towards a sustainable transport system are contributing to the future of transport. They are part of a team that could truly make a difference, be part of a powerful force with a proven track record, has the ability to make things happen and create real change. I believe being part of this strong, supportive culture lets people grow and contribute,” exclaimed Dalila Sharingat.

Scania Malaysia is the only company in the heavy commercial vehicle industry in Malaysia to be accredited for the NDTS certified training programme. The MOU exchange sealed the partnership between Scania and IKTBNDT via the NDTS that is a method based on industry-driven training concept and which is operated through collaboration between companies and training institutions. ‘Dual’ means training in two learning situations such as the NDTS Accredited Centre in Scania Malaysia that covers 70- to 80-per cent practical training (hands-on performance) and the IKTBNDT academic learning that covers 20 to 30 per cent of theory (knowledge).

“We are currently working out the standard requirements by the Human Resources Ministry to raise the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Tahap 2 that Scania awards to the apprentices to SKM Tahap 3, targeted to launch by end 2023. We believe Scania has the expertise, technological advancement and experience that would meet these standard requirements,” stated Razis Azlan Zainal, Industrial Relations Branch Officer, IKTBNDT.

We are committed to a better tomorrow. Our purpose is ambitious: To drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system. This bold aspiration really excites us. And it means people who work at Scania have the motivation and desire to constantly make things better. The sheer determination of our culture and people is what keeps us going, going and going. We are looking forward to people who are alike to join us on our journey towards driving real change, together.” concluded Heba.
