Volvo Trucks revealed its new electric truck — the Volvo FH Aero Electric, which offers a range of up to 600km range and superfast charging in just 40 minutes.
Volvo Sets New Benchmark for Long-Distance Zero-Emission Freight
Designed for long-haul operations, the new model promises to transform zero-emission transport without compromising on performance or payload.
Set for official launch and order availability in Q2 2026, the FH Aero Electric is built around a new e-axle driveline, allowing for up to 780 kWh battery capacity with eight onboard batteries. It supports the new Megawatt Charging System (MCS), enabling 20–80 per cent charging during standard EU driver rest periods, making same-day long-distance electric freight a reality.
With a 48-tonne gross weight capacity and a 6×2 axle configuration for better weight distribution, the truck’s payload approaches that of a conventional diesel model.
“This is a real breakthrough in zero-emission transport. Now, transport companies can operate really long distances with electric trucks without having to compromise on productivity. The superfast charging and high payload capacity make this a very competitive solution,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks.
“Electric trucks in long-haul operation will make an important contribution to reduce CO2 in our industry, since this is where you can save the most per truck. This is positive news for transport companies and for society.”
Volvo Trucks already offers a comprehensive electric lineup and services, from route evaluation to performance tracking, and has over five years of experience in helping fleets transition to electric.
