Scania Malaysia Truck Signing

Scania Malaysia and Aone Logistics Sdn Bhd signed the first Scania Ecolution truck agreement in Asia during the MCVE 2019.

Scania Ecolution Helps Reduce Fuel Consumption and Co2 Emission

Scania Malaysia and Aone Logistics Sdn Bhd signed the first Scania Ecolution truck agreement in Asia during the launch at the recent Malaysian Commercial Vehicle Expo 2019 (MCVE).

Scania Ecolution is a tailor-made partnership between Scania and customers to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This is achieved through vehicle optimisation and agreed fuel and CO2 emissions reduction targets. The progress to reach the targets is regularly monitored, evaluated and discussed with the Scania Ecolution Manager. Scania Ecolution focuses on reducing operating cost translated to improved profitability while fulfilling the growing demand for green initiatives.

The signing ceremony saw Scania Southeast Asia Managing Director Marie Sjödin Enström sealing the partnership with Aone Logistics Managing Director S. Palani, witnessed by Dato’ Kamarudin Jaffar, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Transport, and Swedish Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt.

“At Scania, we believe that sustainability and profitability could go hand-in-hand and Scania Ecolution would facilitate the shift towards a sustainable transport system. This is a holistic approach towards more responsible and sustainable transportation of people and goods,” said Marie.

“Malaysia has in its participation to the Paris Agreement voluntarily committed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 35-45 per cent by 2030 (from the 2005 baseline). By working with local operators, Scania Ecolution model is one of the many solutions to help meet that commitment,” added Marie.

Aone Logistics acquired 15 Scania G-Series trucks earlier this year on hire purchase terms that included a Repair and Maintenance contract as well as Scania Fleet Care.

“Aside from the performance, safety and reliability of Scania trucks, Scania Ecolution would help my business in discovering cost savings in every detail of our operations,” said Palani.

Further milestones at MCVE 2019

This year’s MCVE also saw the signing of Johor’s first Scania Ecolution truck agreement with Naidu Trans Logistics Sdn Bhd. Established in 2002, it is a logistics and transportation company specialising in road transportation and warehouse services. The company operates more than 20 Scania trucks with the latest trucks delivered in July 2018.

“Having a sustainable transport solution is very important to us as our trucks are always on the road transporting goods across the country. Scania Ecolution ensures that we could reach our desired business targets and profitability while minimising our impact on the environment,” said Director Boss Naidu.

Another milestone was the first Scania Ecolution truck agreement in Pahang with Gateway Shipping Sdn Bhd, a total logistics company that operated since 1995 and currently owns 25 Scania trucks.

Managing Director Rishinsa Yusoff found Scania to be a reliable business partner and committed to environment care. “We provide end-to-end logistics solutions and our trucks play a key role in our business sustainability, ensuring just-in-time pick-ups and deliveries while reducing our carbon footprint.”

Following the launch of its New Truck Generation earlier this year, Scania Malaysia presented the first S-series Cab to Heng Seng and Co, one of the first liquid petroleum gas (LPG) distributors in Peninsular Malaysia. Scania says its New Truck Generation is designed and engineered to give truck owners better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions with its powertrain updates, improved aerodynamics, new cab exterior and interior, and chassis design. Safety is also enhanced with award-winning rollover side curtain airbags. The S-series Cab is the tallest in the range and features a flat floor and high roof to maximise interior space and comfort for long-distance driving.

Scania understands the importance of having the right type of vehicle with the proper safety specifications and reliability to deliver results, especially when our LPG centres abide by strict safety regulations. Heng Seng is one of the key LPG players in the country thanks to the mutually beneficial partnership with Scania and having the new S-series Cab truck would give us a further advantage in our business in the long term,” stated General Manager Steven Tan Kim Soon.

The New Truck Generation G-seriesS450A6x2NA, G360B8x2NA – and R560A6x4NZ truck were also displayed. The G-series is the mid-size range model that provides a robust cab for a wide range of applications while the R-series provides a premium and more powerful engine range for longer haul and more demanding work environment.

Adding to that was the K410IB4x2 bus chassis with Scania Opticruise function, full air suspension, electronic braking system, Scania Retarder, traction control, better fuel economy with a higher torque at lower revs engine and fully adjustable steering wheel.

Other Scania solutions on display include the Fleet Management System, Workshop Services, Contracted Services, Connected Services, Driver Training and Coaching, Parts Services, Financial Services via Scania Credit Malaysia and Scania Assistance.

Scania Test & Drive Competition-MCVE 2019 Edition returned for the fourth year giving visitors and the media an opportunity to handle Scania’s New Truck Generation and a Scania bus in a controlled environment. In addition, Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Ajau, one of Scania Malaysia’s recipients of the Master Sustainability Fund, presented the importance of sustainability among schoolchildren and what sustainability means to them.
