UD Trucks, together with its sole distributor partner in Malaysia, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), officially launched the New Kuzer SKE 155 light-duty truck tailored to meet the demands of businesses across the region.
New Kuzer SKE 155 Unveiled to Drive Smart Logistics in Malaysia
The new model is designed to deliver greater uptime and enhance logistics efficiency.
Compared to its predecessor, the New Kuzer offers major improvements in six core areas: payload, performance, chassis, emissions, durability, and safety, all geared toward maximising uptime and productivity.
Ochiai Keiichiro, Region Director for Southeast Asia & East Asia, UD Trucks said, “The New Kuzer SKE light-duty truck highlights our renewed zest and commitment toward the logistics industry, and in continuously expanding and enhancing our product line to deliver smart logistics for our customers.
“Developed for key markets in Southeast Asia especially Malaysia, New Kuzer corresponds with the growing demand for quality light-duty commercial vehicles particularly spurred by the rapid rise in e-commerce activities. We foresee that the demand for light-duty trucks will continue to increase in the coming years and we are poised to capturing more segmental growth with New Kuzer.”
Improved performance and Payload
Powered by a highly fuel-efficient 5.2-litre Euro IV engine with a six-speed overdrive gearbox, offering strong torque. Featuring a ‘world class’ engine management system with state-of-the-art fuel injection technology, the truck is built to optimise fuel consumption and helping fleet operators reduce their environmental footprint.
Its optimised six-speed gear ratios, developed using the latest Japanese technology, enable lower engine RPMs at higher speeds. This not only enhances fuel economy but also improves engine durability over time.
The New Kuzer also features a reduced curb weight and increased payload capacity to further boost productivity, available in 7.5-ton and 8.5-ton Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) configurations. The 7.5-ton model delivers an outstanding payload of 4,880kg, more than 600kg higher than the previous version.
Additionally, the improved rear axle capacity is now more robust to accommodate tougher applications and carry more weight.
Safety features include SRS airbags, Anti-Slip Regulator (ASR), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). The cab is ECE R29-certified, a United Nations regulation that ensures commercial vehicle cabins meet stringent safety standards for occupant protection.
Beyond safety, the New Kuzer offers improved drivability, thanks to its aerodynamically designed cab. This design helps reduce air drag, enhances fuel efficiency, and allows for easier maneuverability in tight or congested urban environments. It also improved fuel economy and reduce cost for fleet operators.
Additional driver-focused enhancements include LED headlamps for improved visibility, a well-organized cabin with ample storage and USB ports, a clear and user-friendly instrument cluster, and wide door openings with A-pillar grab handles and low steps for easy access.
Maximised Uptime and Improved Cost of Ownership
Loh Thim Choy, Chief Operating Officer, TCIE commented, “New Kuzer promises our customers operational efficiency and maximum uptime through accessibility, easy serviceability, genuine parts and other relevant support at our network of 28 dealer and service centers across the country.
