Malaysia’s vehicle sales in August 2020 was higher by 3 per cent rising to 52,800 units from 51, 148 units in the same month last year.
According to Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), Commercial vehicles in August 2020 increased by 19 per cent in August 2020, from 4, 346 units registered in the same period a year ago to 5,209 units.
However, the sales volume for August 2020 was 8 per cent lower than July 2020, which accounted for 57,552 units because of shorter working month resulted from a few festive holidays. July’s sales volume was higher due to clearance backing orders after the announcement of sales tax exemption incentive from government.
As compared to August 2019, production for commercial vehicles dropped 13 per cent, from 2,637 units to 2,294 units in August 2020. In year-to-date term, the first 8 month in 2020, the production for commercial vehicles was standing at 13,961 units, 44 per cent lesser than the 13,961 units in the same period of last year.
