Sendok Group Teams up with Sinutruk International to Offer Commercial Vehicle Training

As its commitment and to grow and sustain a strong market presence in Malaysia and ASEAN, the Sendok Group has teamed up with Sinotruk International and opened its first state-of-art commercial vehicle training centre recently in Klang region.

The 5,500 square feet centre is located at Batu Satu, Jalan Kapar, 42100 Klang. Following a RM500,000 investment, the centre has been designed with a brand new and fully equipped electrical workshop. It also housed a library, 4 multimedia-equipped training classrooms with a rooftop training lab equipped with a complete commercial vehicle wirings and pneumatic brakes simulators, as well as supported by a 12-workbay light commercial vehicle service workshop at the rear.

This new centre, the Group stated that would be used for preparing young commercial vehicles technicians and training their business partners on the features of their products and solutions, keeping them up to date on the developments within the Sinotruk supply chain.

The joint initiative of Sendok and Sinotruk International augured well for the Malaysian government’s recent move to renew focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and development of Centers of Excellence. TVET is important for Malaysia, as some 1.5 million jobs are projected to be created under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP), 60 per cent of which will require TVET-related skills. Furthermore, the incoming 12th Malaysia Plan (2021 to 2025) is projected to require more TVET-related skills.

Working together with the Department of Skill Development (JPK) who is leading this work of focusing on TVET, Sendok Global Academy (SGA) is in close collaboration with other relevant government departments and industry partners.

Students will be offered a pathway of study through completing the Malaysian Skill Certificate (SKM) Certificate 2 and 3 in their trade in Klang, leading to the option of studying the Malaysian automotive skill diploma and Higher Diploma, Level 4 and 5.

To create more career pathways and opportunities for TVET students, the Education Ministry with the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) have collaborated in establishing newly developed Bachelor of Technology Degree (BTech) programmes in specific technology fields.

The crux of the SGA commercial vehicle mechanic training program is that the students, upon passing their Level 2 certificate could opt to continue their study in Japan under the Sendok-Taihei Apprenticeship Program, where the students will be attached with its Japanese partner, Taihei Koygo Inc., a strong Mitsubishi dealers with seventeen 3S/4S centres throughout Japan.

Under this apprenticeship program, student will be studying and working in a 2-year program, where upon graduation they will be offered a 3-year work employment in Japan. Thereafter, trained technicians will be back in Malaysia working with Sendok Taihei and the Sendok’s nationwide dealers network.

Sendok Group revealed that the SGA also planned to train technicians of their Sinotruk fleet owners, Sinotruk technicians from China, as well as their English-speaking overseas market dealers. This is part of Sendok’s value proposition to complement its product offerings with technical service and product training. Training will be delivered by a team of local and International technical experts (from China and Japan) who are well-versed in the local and international codes and standards.

The sharing of the facilities of the SGA and Sinotruk demonstrates a true institution partnership with trainers from both organisations working together for the greater benefit of the student. It would also enable local Malaysian trainers to learn and share their training knowledge with their Chinese and Japanese counterparts.

At present, SGA has the capacity to train 100 people at a time, with courses being tailored to meet training requirements.

Apart from SKM certification programmes, also in the pipelines are the various related customised courses and the introduction of Vehicle Sales Management, Vehicle Assembly, Automotive Parts & Component Remanufacturing and End-of-life Vehicles Processing into its training syllabus.
