Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (HMSM), a subsidiary of Hino Motors Limited Japan, associates under Toyota Group of Companies, kicked off 2018 by delivering 300 units of its bestseller Hino 300 Series to Malaysian courier service company GD Express Sdn Bhd (GDEX).

GD Express Acquires 300 Units of HINO 300 Series

Last year HMSM received a 200-unit order for its newly launched Hino 300 Series from GDEX, which had proven its quality and durability. To date, the total number of Hino vehicles in GDEX operations is 578 and this accounts for 60 per cent of its entire fleet. Recently, GDEX added another 300 units of the Hino trucks.

The year 2017 saw a drastic development of the e-commerce sector in Malaysia. The Minister of Transport Malaysia was quoted as saying that the country is expecting RM114-billion growth through the e-commerce hub. Capitalising on this e-commerce boom, this was one of the reasons that empowered GDEX to step ahead of the curve by expanding 16 of its branches nationwide last year as well as increasing business volume. The steady growth of the digital economy is expected to be matched by a wide demand to boost the logistics businesses in Malaysia. This led to HMSM and GDEX expressing keenness in maintaining good relations to survive in the new competitive digital economy.

Hino Malaysia met its 2017 sales target by achieving the number 1 sales volume in Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV 4-wheeler), Medium to Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MHCV) and Bus as reported by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). Hino is now looking to enjoy more success in 2018 and one of its essential focus is on Hino Total Support. Having completed its full product launches last year along with the opening of the new Hino Total Support Customer Center (HTSCC) – Malaysia’s only training centre for the commercial vehicle industry and the world’s 1st training circuit outside the Japan hub – Hino Malaysia is positive on increasing its performance in sales and after-sales services. Capable of producing 10,000 vehicles and training several thousand drivers every year, HTSCC offers an extended range of courses. These include driver familiarisation, eco-driving and safety-driving, among others.

HMSM adds that it has brought product quality to its customer, GDEX, which contributes in minimising vehicle downtime, reducing GDEX operational costs and giving the company more exclusive warranty satisfaction such as the ‘Free Parts Programme’ and ‘Free Service Programme’ as well as other extras such as ‘Best-Fit’ programme, ‘Free Service Campaign’ and more upcoming activities.

The signing ceremony, attended by Ken Iwamoto and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GDEX, Teong Teck Lean, was witnessed by Mohamed Zaidi Abdul Karim, Division Head of e-Commerce and Postal from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC); Masaki Yamauchi, President of Yamato Holdings; and the management team of GDEX and HMSM. HMSM also presented 4 Certificates of Reliability to GDEX for its Hino trucks that had reached 1 million miles without any engine overhaul.
