JoTran met APAD‘s new Director General to address Safety ICOP implementation and iSPKP licensing improvements.
JoTran Visits APAD HQ to Discuss Safety and Challenges Among Others
The Johor Transport and Logistics Operators’ Association (JoTran) recently visited the Land Public Transport Agency’s (APAD) headquarters to participate in an engagement session that marked part of the newly appointed APAD Director General Ahmad Radhi bin Maarof‘s industry engagement initiative.
JoTran‘s delegation was led by its President, Frankie Chia. During the session, the association and the regulator covered several issues affecting Malaysia’s land transportation and logistics sector, including the implementation of the Industry Code of Practice (ICOP) for Safety within the commercial transport sector, licensing and operational processes through APAD‘s iSPKP system, operational challenges faced by operators, and strategies to enhance industry compliance.
JoTran used the occasion to introduce itself and present its visions, initiatives, and achievements since its establishment, with a particular focus on promoting industry professionalism, regulatory compliance, and improved road safety practices among operators.
The meeting also provided JoTran with the opportunity to share feedback and insights regarding regulatory processes and challenges on the ground. The discussion enabled both JoTran and APAD to exchange perspectives and explore potential improvements that could benefit the industry.

JoTran welcomed APAD‘s openness in engaging directly with industry players and expressed its appreciation to the agency. “This session was a very meaningful platform in strengthening strategic cooperation between the industry and the regulatory agency, particularly on matters relating to the implementation of the Safety ICOP and improvements to the licensing application process through the iSPKP system,” JoTran said.
Both parties acknowledged that road traffic safety is a shared responsibility among regulators, operators, drivers, and other stakeholders. The discussions also emphasised the importance of cultivating a stronger culture of safety and compliance within the industry, alongside achieving a balanced approach between regulatory compliance, operational competitiveness, and long-term sustainability.
“We are committed to continuing to play the role of a constructive industry partner in supporting government efforts to improve the level of compliance, operational efficiency, and safety of the land transport sector,” JoTran said.
“The Association also looks forward to continued collaboration with APAD and other relevant government agencies to develop further a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation and logistics ecosystem for the nation,” it concluded.
