UD Trucks Donates Eight Truck Engines to Post-Secondary Schools

UD Trucks Corporation donated eight heavy-duty truck engines to vocational schools and universities across Japan, to support the training and development.

UD Trucks Supports Training and Development of the New Generation

UD Trucks Corporation has played its contribution to support our next generation of mechanics and maintenance specialists in the truck servicing industry. The eight truck engines donated consisted of six difference sizes ranging from 3 to 13 litres.

Mechanics play an essential role in maintaining the safe operation of trucks on the roads day and night. However, a shortage of mechanics has plagued the industry in recent years, in part due to a declining birth rate in Japan and challenges in attracting young people to the profession. Through this engine donation initiative, UD Trucks hopes to stimulate interest in truck maintenance careers and support the development of new talent.

The HR manager at UD Trucks who is in charge of coordinating the donation commented, “We hope to give students an opportunity to learn and understand our diesel engine technology through hands-one experience. We want to reach as many students as possible.”

The donation ceremonies will be held at an appropriate time and manner that ensures the health and safety of participants in the midst of the pandemic.
