SP Marine First in Malaysia with Scania Euro V ADR Truck

SP Marine receives first Scania Euro V ADR truck in Malaysia

SP Marine becomes Malaysia’s first to operate a Scania Euro V ADR truck with Advanced Driver Assistance System for safer, greener transport.

SP Marine Services Has Full Access to Scania Digital Services

Sabah Ports (SP) Marine Services Sdn Bhd has become the first Malaysian company to operate a Scania Euro V truck for Bulk ADR Transport equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). During the handover ceremony on August 8, 2025, the company’s director, Datuk K. Y. Mustafa, received the truck key from Rini Sabir Mässgård, Dealer Director of the East Region of Scania Southeast Asia.

The Scania Euro V truck for Bulk ADR Transport is equipped with Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Hill Hold, as well as airbags in the steering wheel and side curtains, making the vehicle compliant with the ADR safety standards.

“These advanced safety features not only make our deliveries safer and more secure, but also reinforce our commitment to protecting lives, reducing operational risks, and setting new standards in sustainable transportation systems,” said Captain Nadel Veldes Joseph, Senior Manager of Marine & Offshore Operations Department of SP Marine Sdn Bhd.

The Scania P410A6X4NA Euro V chassis also complies with Flammable Liquid (FL) vehicle type standards. Safety features include a speed limiter, exhaust heat cover, instrument panel controls, and an insulated ADR electrical system. It is also fitted with an electric on/off button for the battery master switch on both the panel and chassis, designed with a two-step safety activation that cuts power to the vehicle while keeping the alarm system operational.

In addition to meeting strict safety and regulatory requirements, the Scania P410A6X4NA Euro V is built for fuel efficiency and environmental responsibility. Its advanced powertrain and aerodynamic profile work together to lower CO₂ emissions, while the air suspension delivers superior ride comfort, helping to reduce driver fatigue. With the Electronic Level Control function, the vehicle’s height can be adjusted to simplify loading and unloading at bays, handling swap bodies, or connecting to tankers.

According to Rini, SP Marine Services purchased the new truck using Scania’s Financial Services. The purchase also came with the Repair and Maintenance Contract, which means access to the full suite of Scania Digital Services for SP Marine Services.

“With Scania Fleet Management System Control Package, SP Marine Services will receive valuable insights into their vehicles, including real-time positioning, vehicle performance, CO₂ emissions, service planning, defect reporting, and driver evaluation. These insights enable them to identify opportunities for improvement,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the Scania Driver app is accessible for SP Marine Services’ drivers. This app allows them to view core vehicle data, perform pre-departure checks, track driving time and performance, view service appointments, and locate the nearest Scania workshop. With Scania ProDriver, drivers can also learn to develop fuel-efficient driving habits.

“The Scania P410 Euro V will be repaired and maintained by Scania’s trained workshop crews, ensuring maximum uptime and planned downtime for SP Marine Services. They will also have access to 14 workshops across Malaysia and Singapore, together with 24/7 Scania Assistance,” added Faizal Pare, Workshop Manager of Scania Malaysia in Kota Kinabalu.
