Sinotruk Howo received awards recognising advances in hybrid powertrains and electric commercial vehicle architecture.
Sinotruk Howo Secures Dual Wins at China CV Tech Event
Sinotruk Howo has won two top awards at the 2025 China Commercial Vehicle Technology Conference and the 4th China Commercial Vehicle Black Technology Competition, with its independently developed hybrid and electric technologies receiving the highest honours.
The company’s XEV Distributed Drive Hybrid System was awarded the competition’s annual grand prize, while its all-aluminium alloy frame pure electric truck project received the Energy-Saving Technology Innovation Award.
Sinotruk Howo said the hybrid system is designed to combine elements of conventional internal combustion vehicles with electric drivetrains, aiming to balance performance, cost, and operating efficiency in heavy-duty applications.
According to the company, the system allows continuous power delivery without gear shift interruption and enables functions such as electric air conditioning while stationary. These features are intended to improve fuel efficiency and driver comfort compared with traditional heavy-duty trucks.

A 49-tonne Shandeka tractor fitted with the XEV system has completed more than 2,000 hours of testing and now has entered customer trials. Sinotruk Howo said feedback from trials highlighted fuel-saving performance. The company added that the project has generated more than 10 invention patents related to hybrid powertrain technology.
In the electric segment, Sinotruk Howo‘s 18-tonne electric truck features an all-aluminium alloy frame developed to reduce vehicle weight while meeting fatigue life requirements. The truck’s chassis integrates a battery compartment directly into the frame structure to simplify installation and improve durability. The company said that this design has completed industrialisation verification and is intended for use in electric cargo trucks.
Sinotruk Howo described the aluminium chassis as a platform-level technology with potential applications across multiple electric commercial vehicle models.
The company said the two awards reflect its progress in hybrid powertrain development and lightweight vehicle architecture. Sinotruk Howo added that it plans to continue focusing on the two segments as the industry moves towards greener and more intelligent transport solutions.
