The Regional Champion Will Face the Best of the World in Europe
Team Land Below the Wind from Kota Kinabalu has won the national finals competition of Scania Top Team and will represent Malaysia at Bangkok, Thailand, to compete in the Asia-Pacific Regional Finals.
“I am very happy that my team won. I am so proud this competition has enhanced our team’s knowledge of Scania’s products and services, enabling us to serve customers more effectively. The collaboration across all service roles within the team created a unified and high-performing team,” said Sufyan Baharuddin, Team Leader from team Land Below The Wind of Scania Malaysia Kota Kinabalu.
Top Team is a global competition for professional service teams within the Scania service network. Everyone who works in the service area competes in teams of three to five people, with the most common contestants being service technicians, parts specialists, and service advisers.
The format of the competition follows daily work patterns, with the most essential objective being to satisfy the needs of our customers. It requires a high level of technical knowledge, team spirit, and discipline. As teams advance to the national finals, the theoretical exercises are supplemented by practical ones.
“The Scania Top Team competition highlights the vital role service personnel play in keeping our industry moving. It celebrates the best in the profession, with individuals whose intelligence, technical expertise, skills and teamwork set them apart,” said Bjorn Jonsson, Services Sales & Operations Director of Scania Southeast Asia.
“Scania is committed to recruiting and developing such talents, recognising that the demand for skilled service technicians, parts specialists, and service advisors continues to grow. In an industry where uptime directly affects customer profitability, the performance of our vehicles depends largely on the capabilities of those who service them. At Scania, we understand that skilled and motivated service personnel are essential to delivering the reliability our customers rely on,” he added.
In total, 1,500 teams from 70 countries participated in the Top Team competition worldwide. Despite the name, teams from Singapore also competed in the national Top Team competition in Malaysia.
The winner from Malaysia, Team Land Below The Wind, will then compete in the regional finals and, from there, the winner of the regional competition will advance to the World Finals in Europe, where they will compete with 12 other teams from different regions to be the ultimate Scania Top Team. The world champion will gain a first prize of €50,000, while the runner-up and the third place will get €30,000 and €20,000 respectively.
“As the industry undergoes a historic technological shift, our front-line experts in our retail network are leading the way in driving the shift towards a sustainable transport system. We are proud to have a full captive network with Scania technicians, service advisors, team leaders, parts assistants and workshop managers, ensuring top-quality service and maximum vehicle uptime for our customers, in achieving sustainability and profitability,” Joyce Antar, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, commented.
“The outstanding performance of every participant today not only drives progress but also encourages the next generation of talent. Congratulations to team Land Below The Wind from Scania Malaysia Kota Kinabalu for their inspiring teamwork and in winning the 2025/2026 National Top Team competition,” she concluded.
