Sixteen Vans Cover the New Four Rapid KL On-Demand Routes

Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus), the operator of the Rapid KL On-Demand service, launched four new routes on June 30, 2025, including ones in high-traffic areas and key educational corridors in Kuala Lumpur. Sixteen new vans will operate within these new four routes.

The Kuala Lumpur Central Business District (CBD) received the most significant improvement. Nine vans now operate in the new route that covers the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur—Jalan Imbi, Jalan Sultan Ismail, and Jalan Raja Chulan. The main goal of adding a new route in the CBD, according to Rapid Bus’ official statement, is to reduce traffic density and parking congestion and serve as a foundation for Kuala Lumpur’s future as a transit-oriented city.

Meanwhile, two vans now cover the new route from MRT Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to IOI City Mall, two vans now cover the LRT Kelana Jaya – Taman SEA/Damansara Jaya route, and LRT Gombak – Taman Selaseh/IIUM (International Islamic University Malaysia) route is covered by three vans. These new Rapid KL On-Demand routes are specifically designed to facilitate daily access for students, lecturers, and staff to educational institutions in a “safer, more structured, and flexible manner”.

“The introduction of these new zones is a testament to our commitment to offering a public transport system that is not only inclusive but also responsive to real user needs. Our city centre zone is designed to solve the frequent first/last-mile issues faced by users in the busiest areas of the country, while the education zones are tailored for daily convenience among students and the academic community,” said Amir Hamdan, Group Chief Operating Officer (Operations) at Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.

He added, “This launch is the second to last before all 300 Rapid KL On-Demand vans become fully operational by early July 2025, marking another key milestone toward a more sustainable and integrated public transport system.”

All services in the new routes can be accessed via the Rapid On-Demand mobile app. The services are available daily from 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM. For now, users only need to pay RM1.00 per ride using the Touch ‘n Go card, debit or credit card, MyRapid Concession Card, OKU Smile Travel Pass, or Unlimited Travel Pass (My50, MyCity, and Family Pass).
