Pos Malaysia Introduces Malaysia’s First Autonomous Delivery Vehicle

Pos Malaysia autonomous logistics vehicle launch

Pos Malaysia launched the nation’s first autonomous logistics vehicle, supporting Malaysia’s push toward smart mobility and sustainable logistics.

Zelos, the Autonomous Vehicle, Will Be Operated by ALS Sdn Bhd

Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) made history with the launch of the first autonomous vehicle (AV) in the country to support its logistical and operational needs. The launch, held in Kuala Lumpur on January 21, 2026, marked a major milestone in Malaysia’s move towards smart, digital, and sustainable logistics.

The launch ceremony was officiated in the presence of the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil. The event also saw the signing of a collaborative agreement between Pos Malaysia, represented by its Group Chief Executive Officer Charles Brewer, and Autonomous Logistic Solutions Sdn Bhd (ALS), represented by its Managing Director Alan Chong.

Under the partnership, ALS will be in charge of the deployment of Zelos, a fully driverless, electric, and zero-emission logistics vehicle designed for business-to-business, high-volume, and repetitive point-to-point deliveries. ALS is the exclusive Malaysian partner responsible for bringing, localising, and operating Zelos in the country.

Commenting on the launch, Chairman of Pos Malaysia Syed Faisal Akbar said Zelos represents a concrete step towards a more sustainable and efficient operation.

“Our autonomous vehicle initiative signifies a pivotal milestone in our journey to transform Pos Malaysia into a modern, innovative, and sustainable logistics provider. The technology has the potential to reduce fuel consumption, optimise delivery routes, and minimise wastage in our daily operations,” he said.

Brewer added that the AV launch itself has catapulted Malaysia into a new era of logistics.

“This autonomous pioneer is a testament to our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and serving our nation’s future. We are immensely proud to lead this transformative journey, and we are energised by the potential it unlocks for our customers and for the entire country,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Chong said the collaboration marked a shift from trials to real-world deployment for AV.

“By integrating seamlessly into existing post and parcel workflows, we are demonstrating that Level 4 autonomy is ready for real-world deployment. Together with Pos Malaysia, this sets a national precedent for wider industrial adoption and opens a clear pathway for autonomous vehicles to soon operate on Malaysian roads,” he explained.

Zelos deployment is supported by 5G connectivity from Digital National Berhad (DNB). During the same event, DNB CEO Azman Ismail said, “We are committed to supporting the nation’s development of an Autonomous Network as part of the country’s AI Nation plans. Ultra-reliable, high-performance 5G connectivity is essential to enabling advanced autonomous use cases, from IoT to autonomous robotics and vehicles.”

According to ALS, Zelos is already deployed at scale, with more than 15,000 AVs operating in countries like China, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. For Pos Malaysia, the introduction of Zelos to its fleet reinforces its effort to make its operations greener. Currently, it operates more than 1,500 electric motorcycles and vans, amounting to around 25 per cent of its total fleet.

As part of the rollout, Pos Malaysia and ALS will conduct a six-month proof of concept within Pos Malaysia‘s operational scope. The programme is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport (MOT), Road Transport Department (JPJ), and Futurise, a company under Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance dedicated to driving innovation.
