Petronas debuts Urania with StrongTech for longer oil life, better protection, and reliable solutions for modern commercial fleets.
The Urania Reaffirms Petronas’ Commitment to Innovation & Sustainability
Petronas Lubricants International (PLI) has launched the flagship line for commercial vehicle lubricants, the Urania. This product range is enhanced with StrongTech technology to meet the changing demands of the road transport industry, including rising costs, technological shifts, and sustainability goals.
“The transport and logistics industries are changing rapidly, from stricter emissions regulations to the growth of used fleets and OEM-associated service models. That’s why today’s transport professionals need a lubricant partner they can trust for collaboration and guidance on the best fleet maintenance strategies,” said Giuseppe Pedretti, Regional Managing Director for PLI in EMEA.
“With the launch of Petronas Urania, a high-performance, reliable solution tailored to real-world challenges, we reaffirm our role as an enabler of sustainable growth,” he added.
The new product line introduces a suite of improvements aimed at addressing modern transport challenges. At the core of this innovation is StrongTech, Petronas‘ advanced additive system. This technology reinforces the oil structure to deliver longer oil life, superior engine protection, and improved engine cleanliness, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications.
The Petronas Urania has also been streamlined for easier selection. With simplified product categories and enhanced labelling, fleet owners and drivers can now quickly identify the lubricant solution best suited to their operational needs. This clarity is especially useful in reducing downtime and preventing maintenance errors.

In terms of regulatory compliance, the Urania line is fully future-ready. It has been engineered to meet current and upcoming emissions standards, including Euro 6 and beyond, ensuring long-term compatibility with evolving vehicle technologies.
Addressing core business concerns, the range also brings tangible customer value. It targets common operational pain points such as fuel economy, maintenance efficiency, and long-term vehicle durability across diverse fleet types and vehicle age groups.
Finally, for light commercial vehicles, Petronas has introduced a compact portfolio of five lubricant products available in three viscosities. These formulations are compatible with a wide array of OEMs and are designed with low SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur) content. Each variant is tailored to specific use cases within the light-duty commercial segment, making the portfolio both versatile and performance-oriented.
Professional truck driver Krystian Calka commented, “Alongside the technical reliability of Petronas Urania’s products, I truly appreciate the team’s effort to understand what we really need out on the road.”
According to Petronas‘ official release, the Urania reaffirms PLI’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the evolving needs of the transport and logistics sector. The launch also introduces a refreshed brand identity, simplified product navigation, and a greater emphasis on value-added support services.
