Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (Mitsubishi Fuso) has launched the latest version of its Canter light-duty truck in Japan.

The new Canter exceeds Japan’s FY2025 Fuel Efficiency Standards (JH25) by approximately 5 per cent, with certain models achieving improvements of up to 10 per cent above the standard. The strongest gains apply to the 4P10+ (T2) variant with 96kW engine output and the dual-clutch automated manual transmission DUONIC 2.0.

Mitsubishi Fuso said the new Canter‘s fuel efficiency improvements have been achieved through enhanced engine efficiency, including refinements to the engine itself and optimised variable geometry turbo control. Aerodynamically designed door visors, which are now fitted as standard across all models, and a redesigned front bumper also reduce air resistance and contribute to the overall efficiency gains alongside the refreshed exterior appearance.

The new Canter model also meets the latest cybersecurity regulations. An optional centre display allows drivers to connect their smartphones via Bluetooth for hands-free calling and audio streaming, and is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

“With further advances in environmental performance and continued product evolution, the new Canter is positioned to support an even wider variety of customer business needs,” Mitsubishi Fuso said.
