MAA: CV Sales Down 10%, Production Slipped in June 2025

Malaysia commercial vehicle production and sales down in June 2025

MAA reports June 2025 commercial vehicle sales down 10% and production slightly lower, citing plant shutdowns and shorter work month.

MAA: July 2025’s Outlook Is More Positive

The Malaysian commercial vehicle segment experienced another downturn in June 2025, with both sales and production declining compared to the same month in the previous year.

According to data from the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), production numbers stood at 2,992 units, slightly lower than the 3,000 units recorded in June 2024. Meanwhile, year-to-date production only reached 18,889 units, marking an 11 per cent drop from 21,132 units over the same period last year.

Sales followed a similar trend. With 5,028 commercial vehicles sold in June 2025, there was a 10 per cent decrease from 5,586 units a year earlier. Year-to-date sales fell by 21 per cent, totalling 26,552 units compared to 33,595 in the previous year.

The MAA attributed the decline to a 21 per cent drop in Total Industry Volume (TIV) for June, compared to May 2025, citing a one-week plant shutdown during Hari Raya Aidiladha and a shorter working month of 19 days as the reasons.

Although June’s figures reflect a challenging month for the auto industry, the outlook for July 2025 is more positive. With a full 23 working days, the MAA expected commercial vehicle output and sales to recover as manufacturers ramp up production to meet pending orders.
