Konsortium E-Mutiara: Scania is Partner for Success
Konsortium E-Mutiara :
All companies have to start somewhere. The found- er of Konsortium E-Mutiara Bhd (KEMB), Execu- tive Chairman Che Ibrahim Che Ismail, the son of a fisherman, started his humble journey by transporting children with a school bus in 1976.
Che Ibrahim, best known as ‘Pak Nik’, said it was in striving for a better life that had motivated him to set up his own business. “I added 3 buses in 1983 and began transporting factory workers within the newly developed industrial area of Pengkalan Chepa in Kota Bahru. My business grew rapidly and I soon had 20 factory buses.”
The company embarked on a new chapter when Pak Nik ventured into a new market segment – express bus ser- vice - that targeted the general public. He began trans- porting people from Kota Bharu to all over Peninsular Malaysia. Today, KEMB had become one of the largest transportation networks in the country.
“A business goes through stages of development, but I trusted only one brand —Scania – for my fleet of buses, maintenance, and financial support to insurance cover- age. Scania is a one-stop solution provider that makes our expansion truly easy. My technical and mechanical worries are well taken care of by Scania, which freed me to focus on KEMB’s marketing and operation. We send our buses to the Scania workshop in Kota Bahru for nor- mal servicing and minor repairs, while the scheduled ma- jor maintenance is handled by Scania’s Bukit Jelutong facility in Shah Alam.”
