MAA: Commercial Vehicle Sales Rise in October 2025

Malaysia commercial vehicle sales October 2025 MAA

MAA reports higher CV sales in October 2025 despite lower output and a double-digit YTD decline compared to last year.

Two Percent Improvement in CV Sales Compared to Last Year

The Malaysian commercial vehicle segment in October 2025 showed a slight improvement in sales compared to last year, despite lower production volume.

A total of 5,671 commercial vehicles were sold during October 2025, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) report. This number showed a two per cent improvement compared to October 2024, when 5,569 vehicles were sold.

However, despite the positive sign in commercial vehicle year-on-year sales, the year-to-date number still showed a negative thirteen per cent variance compared to last year. From January to October 2024, 55,921 vehicles were sold. During the same timespan this year, only 48,885 were sold.

In October 2025, 4,034 vehicles were produced, a 6% decrease compared to October 2024 (4,290). This slump is also reflected in the year-to-date number. From January to October 2025, only 34,920 vehicles were produced, representing an 8% decline compared to the same period in 2024.

The MAA noted that Total Industry Volume (TIV) for October 2025 was the highest month for the year-to-date and 30% higher than September 2025 (58,490 units).

The MAA attributed the higher TIV to two factors. First, there was a rush for purchases of CBU BEVs after the National Budget 2026 announcement on the expiry. Second, there will be a tax exemption for CBU BEVs by the end of December this year. The aggressive year-end promotion campaign also contributed.

For November 2025, the MAA predicted that October’s sales momentum would continue.
