The year-to-date (YTD) CV sales volume for October 2022 was 51 per cent higher than similar corresponding period year 2021.
Based on figures released by Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the total number of vehicles sold in October 2022 was 61,002, 10 per cent lower than the 67,698 units sold in September. This, says MAA, was due to the fulfilment of bookings by car companies for many bookings received prior to 30th June, 2022.
The sales of commercial vehicles (CV) were 6,504 units in October, as compared to 6,615 units a year ago, a reduction of 2 per cent.
The year-to-date (YTD) CV sales volume for October 2022 was 51 per cent higher than similar corresponding period year 2021. Up to October 2022, a total of 64,314 vehicles were sold while 42,561 were sold as compared to the same period in 2021.
Meanwhile, the total production of CVs for the first 10 months increased from 26,537 in 2021 to 42,044 vehicles in 2022.
MAA expects sales in November 2022 to be maintained at October 2022 levels. Shortages of chips and components continued to affect certain makes, but at a much smaller scale.
