Starrtrek invested in Scania New Truck Generation to be part of its visionary move to be the premium transporter of cars and SUVs, especially Supercars.
Scania delivered a G360A4x2EB New Truck Generation (NTG) with full air-suspension – the first in Malaysia to transport supercars - Starrtrek Carriers Sdn Bhd. Datuk Kumar Prabakaran, Managing Director of Starrtrek, also invested in six G360A4x2NA prime movers and signed up for the Fleet Management System (FMS) Control 1 and Maintenance Contract along with Scania Financial Services, including Insurance.
The Scania G360A4x2EB (one unit) and G360A4x2NA (six units) NTGs that were delivered are the first choice for fuel efficiency, increased payload and improved productivity for long distance trips throughout Peninsular Malaysia. The Scania prime movers are fitted with the Fleet Management System (FMS) Control 1; this enables Starrtrek to monitor the progress of its drivers and ensure that the agreed targets of km/litre are met. The FMS also presents an opportunity for Starrtrek to sign the Scania Ecolution partnership agreement with which a more structured approach to fuel savings, that leads to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, could be applied. This is in support of Starrtrek’s intention to reduce its operation’s impact on the environment.
The NTGs ensure a cost-effective investment as these prime movers are designed and engineered to give Scania truck owners better fuel efficiency, being equipped with advanced powertrain and aerodynamic solutions. The standard gain is more than 3 per cent fuel economy. When coupled with the Fleet Management System Control 1, more fuel savings could be achieved. Furthermore, the Opticruise gearbox gives the Scania NTGs a pre-set default Economy mode to further boost fuel savings. The Scania NTGs are also Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME) prepared, ready for biodiesel up to B100 usage, to care for the environment by reducing global emissions.
Scania’s Maintenance Contract provides predictable costs so that Starrtrek could focus time and energy on its core business, worry-free. By individually optimising the different modules in its service plan, Scania ensures via the Maintenance Contract that downtime is planned and only occurs when absolutely necessary.
These Scania NTGs provide a very comfortable adjustable driver seat that is placed closer to the door and an ergonomic dashboard with 5-inch touchscreen that works very well for the driver. More importantly, the large windscreen with extended view that provides clear visibility from different angles for drivers makes it easier for them to operate in a comfortable and safe environment. Other safety features include the Electronic Braking System (EBS) for effective emergency braking.
Engineered with versatility in mind and being able to safely transport special cars with minimal handling and maximum safety, one of the seven carriers is an enclosed luxury unit to maintain confidentiality of the cars transported. This is to cater to the buoyant supercar market that is steadily growing. The strength of the remaining six carriers lies in its loading capacity (up to 10 units), simplicity of use and adaptation to extreme road and climate conditions. With ‘unbeatable lightness yet strengthened with a high-resistance chassis’, these prime movers are said to guarantee a high loading volume for all types of cars, with quick and simple loading operations.
