Six Transport Companies Joins Man's Sustainability Journey

MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd recently hosted a celebration party at its assembly plant in Serendah, Selangor to hand over the first batch of its New MAN Truck Generation vehicles to customers.

Seven New MAN Truck Generation vehicles, each powered by a low emission engine that meets Euro V standards, were handed to six transport companies – two of whom are first-time MAN truck customers.

At the event, MAN Malaysia Managing Director Andrew O’Brooks thanked the customers for joining the sustainability journey with MAN. “In November 2021, MAN became the first truck manufacturer in Malaysia to offer Euro V engines as standard across its entire product portfolio. It was a bold move as we were challenging Malaysian transporters to join the journey and take the lead in reducing carbon emissions.”

He continued that the company was delighted to see Malaysian transporters taking up the challenge. “Market response was overwhelming. This clearly demonstrates that transporters in Malaysia are more than willing to do their part as the nation aims for carbon neutral status by 2050. They know that with our New MAN Truck Generation, they could attain both profitability and sustainability,” he said.

LTS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd, part of the Penang-based Lee Ting San Group that is one of the largest trucking companies in Malaysia, received its 360hp new MAN TGS 4x2 that would be used for short haul transportation trips.

Sim Aik Chan Trading Sdn Bhd was the proud owner of a 540hp new MAN TGS 6x4. With its robust chassis and powerful yet economical engine, this latest addition to its fleet would be more than capable of handling the heavy-duty task of transporting construction material all over the country.

Global integrated logistics solution provider Sea Hawk Global Lines Sdn Bhd received the keys to two units – the 540hp new MAN TGX 6x4 flagship model that was the star attraction at the recent Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2022 and a 440hp MAN TGS 6x2.

With their fuel efficient ‘green’ engines, both the new MAN trucks would help Sea Hawk expand its transportation services to the oil and gas sector where Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) compliance is mandatory.

First-time MAN customer, container specialist Timur Permai Haulage Sdn Bhd, received its preferred choice of a 440hp new MAN TGS 6x2 as it was seen as the perfect solution for the company’s container haulage requirements.

Another first-time MAN customer, Rani Transport Sdn Bhd, took delivery of a 360hp new MAN TGS 4x2 with ADR (Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) specifications that is ideal for transporting chemicals to hard-to-access water treatment plants around the country.

Meanwhile, Globonus Sdn Bhd also opted for an ADR specification New MAN Truck Generation vehicle. The total logistics solution provider chose a 440hp MAN TGS 6x2 that meets its requirements as a key vendor to a multinational oil and gas company.

The New MAN Truck Generation with Euro V engines as standard is an all-new product range that is said to lead the way in driver orientation, fuel efficiency, assistance systems, digital networking and above all, sustainability.
