DHL Express Malaysia is committed electrifying 60 per cent of their fleet by 2030.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and DHL Express Malaysia (DHL) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which will see the latter introducing electric vehicles (EV) in its own fleet. This was reported by the Edge Market.
The MoU will also see the two companies invest in energy-efficient equipment and build energy management systems and solar panels on the roof.
According to The Star, the first run of emission-free cars for emissions will be 3 units of the Nissan e-NV200, which DHL expects to receive within 9 months, In this pilot phase, TNB is setting up charging infrastructure for the EV delivery fleet at DHL’s service centre at Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur.
TNB will added two more direct charges at two more locations in the Klang Valley – one at the Dayabumi substation in the city centre -along the vehicle delivery routes. TNB Chief Retailer Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan told The star that TNB will install state-of-the-art 60kW fast chargers, which only tales 1 minute to charge for a 6km run.
He stressed that the MoU with DHL will pave the way for TNB to provide critical infrastructure for the logistics company in providing the best services to its customers.
According to The Star, DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei Director Julian Neo said, the e-NV200 van only need about 7 hours to charge for a drive up to 200km on a single charge, which is more than enough for DHL. On average, he said, DHL vans only used 180km on a daily basis in urban deliveries.
He also revealed that the company is committed electrifying 60 per cent of their fleet by 2030 in the last 3 months since they signed the MoU, and they have actually made a lot of progress. The first batch of 3 EV vans are expected to arrive in 1st half of 2022.
