Commercial Vehicle Sales Drops 27 Per Cent

MAA Expects Lower Sales in February 

According to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), vehicle sales in January 2021 reduced by 24 per cent to 32,829 units compared to the 42,942 units achieved in the similar corresponding month in 2020.

The commercial vehicles segment was 12 per cent higher at 3,957 units from 3,532 units.

Year-on-year numbers for January were as expected lower than the corresponding period in 2020 by 10,538 units, or 27 per cent lower.

A total of 39,666 units were produced in January, as compared to 45, 416 units in 2020. The latest production comprises 3,480 commercial vehicles with the segment increasing by 20 per cent to 3,480 units from 2,889 units.

MAA stated that they expect sales volume in February 2021 to be lower than January 2021 due to the short working month.
