Under JPJ‘s Operation Overload, authorities inspected 1.2M vehicles in 2025 to enforce weight limits and technical standards across Malaysia.
Offenders Face Fines Up To RM500,000
Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) has signalled a continued crackdown on commercial vehicle violations after penalising more than 240,000 vehicles throughout 2025 in Operation Overload.
Director General of the JPJ, Dato’s Aedy Fadly bin Ramli, told a press conference at the Dengkil Rest & Treatment Area earlier this month that authorities inspected 1.2 million vehicles in 2025. Out of those inspected, 240,493 vehicles faced enforcement action, including seizure under Section 80 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 for 465 vehicles.
Operation Overload targets weight limit violations, technical standards, and speed limit compliance. Under current laws, operators found guilty of overloading face severe penalties, including fines of up to RM500,000 or two years in prison under Section 57. The JPJ has also implemented a “three-strike” policy, where repeat offences can escalate from monetary fines to full revocation of an operator’s business licence.
Aedy Fadly, who was joined by senior officials, including JPJ Deputy Director General Datuk Jazmanie bin Shafawi, emphasised a zero-tolerance policy toward any violation. The department affirmed that these high-frequency measures will remain a priority this year to ensure road safety for the public.
