JPJ sets heavy vehicle restriction dates for Hari Raya 2026 on March 19-20 and March 28-29, covering three vehicle categories and time bands.

Timber Lorries, Car Carriers, and Cement Tankers Face All-Day Ban

Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a schedule of heavy vehicle restrictions ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid Al-Fitr) 2026 festive period. The prohibition dates fall on March 19-20 and March 28-29, 2026.

The restrictions are divided into three categories, based on vehicle type and the severity of the prohibition.

The most stringent restrictions apply all day on the prohibition dates to the following vehicle types: car carrier lorries and trailers exceeding 7,500 kg, low-loader lorries, pole trailers, cement tanker lorries, platform trailers, timber lorries, wheeled heavy machinery & tractor, and lorries carrying construction materials and quarry products.

The second restriction category applies to container lorries carrying goods (except those transporting goods between ports or airports and industrial areas within the same state), lorries carrying electronic, electrical, or industrial chemical goods from ports or airports, lorries transporting palm oil and latex from ports or airports to industrial areas within the same state, and unladen lorries. These types of vehicles are prohibited from being on the road from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on the aforementioned dates.

Meanwhile, mobile cranes and concrete mixer lorries are subject to a restriction from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on the prohibition dates, and those operating within 25 kilometres of a construction site are subject to the permitted operating limits applicable to the site.

The JPJ has also announced two exemptions. Wheeled heavy machinery and mobile cranes are permitted to operate for emergency works, and any goods vehicle or vehicle type not listed in the schedule is allowed to operate during the restriction period.
