Scania delivered its first Smart and Safe coach in Malaysia to Gopi Travel Tours, featuring advanced digital and safety systems.
The Scania Smart and Safe Coach Offers Enhanced Safety and Data-Driven Fleet Management
Gopi Travel Tours Sdn Bhd has become the first operator in Malaysia to put a Scania Smart and Safe coach into service.
The handover took place in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, on December 9, 2025. Datuk Gopinathan, Managing Director of Gopi Travel Tours, received the coach from Johan Clason, Presales and Logistics Director of Scania Southeast Asia.
“With the Scania Smart and Safe coach, we can achieve seamless integration of touchpoints within the Scania Digital Ecosystem, providing valuable insights to both our drivers and fleet managers. These insights help increase uptime through the latest digital interface that enables fast and remote diagnostics,” stated Datuk Gopinathan.
The Scania Smart and Safe coach is equipped with a new high-performance computing platform, a 4G and 5G-ready telematics unit, and advanced sensor systems that allow comprehensive vehicle data to be collected and converted into operational insights. The company said the data support more efficient fleet management, improved uptime, and stronger profitability.
“Scania’s suite of Digital Services plays a vital role in helping customers enhance their business sustainability and profitability. With the Scania Smart and Safe coach, Gopi Travel Tours gains access to vital data from its vehicle through the Fleet Management System Monitoring Package. This includes fuel consumption, vehicle usage, and carbon emissions, which can be monitored via the My Scania portal. This information allows Gopi Travel Tours to identify opportunities for vehicle usage improvements,” Nurulain Sulaiman, Sales Manager for Bus and Coach at Scania Southeast Asia, explained.
“Their drivers can also gain access to the My Scania ecosystem through the Scania Driver app, which digitalises routine tasks such as performing pre-departure checks, reporting defects, and obtaining vital vehicle information, all at their fingertips,” he continued.
The Scania Smart and Safe coach is also fitted with standard safety systems, including lane departure warning, an electronic braking system with anti-lock braking, and traction control. It is designed to comply with current and upcoming safety and cybersecurity requirements.
