The E-Mutiara Berhad consortium, one of Malaysia’s leading express bus operators, has ordered a total of 67 chassis from MAN Truck & Bus. The Euro 5 RR5 26.440 chassis form the basis for 12 single-deckers and 55 double-deckers. Local manufacturer Gemilang is responsible for the bodywork. The first 10 double-decker coaches were handed over to the consortium at the Gemilang plant in Johor in July. The remaining vehicles are to be delivered in the coming months.

E-Mutiara offers express bus connections to all major cities on the Malaysian peninsula and in Singapore. In future, the 67 new coaches will also be used on these routes. To ensure that passengers and drivers travel as comfortably and safely as possible at all times, the vehicles are equipped with numerous assistance, telematics and safety systems such as emergency brake assist, lane departure warning and cruise control.

E-Mutiara was founded in the 1970s with just two buses. The company is now one of the leading providers of passenger transportation in Malaysia. In 1992, it also entered the express bus sector.
