Sales of commercial vehicles increased 12.5 per cent to 6,600 units in May 2023 against 5,921 units in the same period of last year.
MAA Expects Sales to Maintained at May 2023 Levels
The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has announced that total vehicle car sales in May were 61,795 units as compared to 46, 583 units in April 2023, which was a 32.7 per cent increase.
Sales of commercial vehicles increased 12.5 per cent to 6,600 units in May 2023 against 5,921 units in the same period of last year. The year-to-date sales of commercial vehicle stood at 32,499 units as of May 2023, which was 3 per cent higher compared to 31,635 units in the same period in 2022.
Total production of commercial vehicle in May 2023 was 4,539 units against 3,636 units in April, an increase of 24.8 per cent. New commercial vehicles recorded for the first five months was 19,281 units, a 2.5 per cent reduction as compared to 19,769 units during the same period in 2022.
Regarding the outlook for June 2023, MAA expects sales to be maintained at May 2023 levels as the demand is still resilient due to high numbers of backlogged orders, but registration volume might be slightly moderated.
