Held at KLCC, Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2026 facilitates trade and innovation across the global supply chain.
15th Automechanika Kuala Lumpur to Showcase Green Mobility and Digital Innovation
The 15th edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur, scheduled to take place from May 14 to May 16, 2026, will highlight Malaysia’s emergence as a premier destination for automotive investment.
The exhibition, held across six halls at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, arrives amid a period of growth driven by digitalisation, electrification, and a shift towards sustainable energy. Tailored for the local and global automotive communities, the 2026 Automechanika Kuala Lumpur facilitates trade, innovation exchange, and cultural engagement across the supply chain for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and fleets.
During the first half of 2025, Malaysia’s automotive industry experienced a surge that made it the leading market for car sales within ASEAN. Domestic manufacturers Perodua and Proton dominated the landscape, accounting for 63 per cent of those sales. This growth, which industry analysts attributed to rising car ownership rates, an ageing fleet requiring maintenance, and an expanding middle class, has reshaped the value chain across Malaysia and ASEAN through authorised OEM service centres, the professionalisation of independent workshops, and the expansion of additional value-added services and accessories.
Strategic national efforts, such as the Supply Chain Development and Partnership Programme organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority in collaboration with Hyundai Motor, further underscore the move to embrace local capabilities.
“Favourable government policies, technological advancements, and shifting consumer behaviour have driven Malaysia’s emergence as a global automotive player, making it an appealing destination for international investment,” said Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the organiser of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur.
“Messe Frankfurt leverages its international resources to further accelerate this growth, bringing global expertise to the country for the 15th edition. With 16 Automechanika events in worldwide markets, the brand is ideally positioned to support the expansion of local companies by connecting them with global leaders for business opportunities and insights on best practices,” she added.
The 2026 Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will reflect these trends through its various programmes. The Automotive Mobility Solutions Zone, which will spotlight green mobility investment, advanced manufacturing, and the low-altitude economy, is designed to inspire collaboration among technological innovators, original equipment manufacturers, and government officials while promoting regional growth.
The exhibition will also feature a bigger Automotive Service Marketplace, uniting detailing shops, body and paint specialists, and retail service centres. This area aims to foster connections between businesses of all sizes, engaging trade professionals and consumers.
Further participation is anticipated across categories, including Parts and Components, Electrics and Electronics, and Diagnostics and Repair. The Collision Repair Training Workshop, for instance, will feature live spray booth demonstrations, serving as a key attraction for supporting technological and talent development.
Complementing the trade-focused elements is autoFEST@KL, a vibrant section of the show designed to promote cultural engagement by blending business with lifestyle. This interactive environment will feature a music party for relaxed networking, alongside displays of classic and Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars. Enthusiasts can also engage with motorsports and esports competitions, the EMMA Malaysia car audio and modification contest, and an outdoor zone dedicated to campervans and caravans.
Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will be the first Automechanika this year organised by Messe Frankfurt’s Greater China offices. From June 18 to 20, 2026, Automechanika will be held in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), followed by Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 24 to 27, and concluded with Automechanika Shanghai from December 2 to 5.
