MAA data shows Malaysia’s CV sales grew 15% in January 2026, with production also up 13% year-on-year to 3,499 units built in the month.
Malaysia Sells 3,929 Commercial Vehicles in January 2026
Malaysia’s commercial vehicle segment recorded 3,929 units sold in January 2026, a 15 per cent increase from the 3,430 units registered in the same month of 2025, according to figures published by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).
Production number also experienced a rise, with 3,499 units built in January 2026 compared to 3,105 in January 2024, representing a 13 per cent year-on-year improvement.
The MAA noted that the market’s year-on-year growth was largely driven by a spill-over effect from new model launches in late 2025. The total market, however, was 29 per cent below December 2025, when the Malaysian automotive industry reached its all-time monthly peak with a total industry volume (TIV) of 90,716 units.
The MAA also said that February 2026 sales are expected to soften across the industry due to a reduced working month, with only 17 working days available as a result of the Chinese New Year holiday period.
