Isuzu launches the upgraded GIGA truck at Japan Mobility Show 2025, featuring Japan’s first wheel detachment prediction system and new connectivity tech.
Isuzu Targets 12,000 Annual Sales for the GIGA Series
Isuzu Motors Limited (Isuzu) has launched the upgraded GIGA heavy-duty truck, equipped with the 6UZ1 engine. The new model made its world debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.
The latest GIGA introduces Japan’s first Wheel Detachment Prediction Detection System, now standard across all variants. The system monitors wheel condition in real time and detects early signs of loosening, helping to prevent accidents caused by wheel detachment.
The model also includes an upgraded Pre-Crash Brake (PCB) system that identifies pedestrians during turning manoeuvres. The system activates when the vehicle is travelling below 20 km/h with the turn signal engaged, automatically applying the brakes to prevent collisions. Complementing this is a brake assist system that helps avoid left-turn collisions with cyclists or pedestrians when the vehicle is moving below 15 km/h.
The new GIGA also comes with Lane Keep Assist (LKA). When the risk of collision with a vehicle in the adjacent lane increases during lane changes, LKA is activated to help avoid collisions by steering the vehicle back toward the centre of the lane.
In addition to safety improvements, Isuzu has also introduced Japan’s first body-connected service, enabling integrated monitoring of both the truck and its cargo body. This service enhances fleet management by transmitting real-time vehicle and cargo information via Isuzu‘s Minamori telematics system, Preism digital maintenance platform, and the Gatex connectivity gateway.
The new GIGA‘s design adopts Isuzu‘s new global concept, “The Ultimate”, combining durability and modernity. Its “World Class Flow” grille establishes a unified brand identity across Isuzu’s commercial vehicle line-up and contributes to aerodynamic performance.
GIGA‘s line-up has been expanded with the addition of the G-Cargo low-bed tri-axle truck (25-tonne gross vehicle weight), jointly developed with Nippon Trex, which features an energy-saving aerodynamic package including side skirts and rear flaps. Another addition is a high-volume wing-body truck developed with Trantechs, which offers an interior height of 2,680 mm to accommodate larger cargo volumes.
Isuzu aims to achieve annual sales of 12,000 units for the entire GIGA series, reinforcing the model’s position as the company’s flagship heavy-duty truck.
