 Growing Sinotruk’s Brand in Malaysia

Sendok Group, the distributor of Sinotruk heavy com- mercial trucks from China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Company Limited (CNHTC) in Malaysia, made a strong presence in the recent Asean Transport & Logistics Show by previewing its Sinotruk A7 6X2 CNG model and Si- notruk T7H.
During the show, Truck & Bus News had the opportunity to talk to Sendok Group Chairman Dato’ Hj Emran Hj’ Kadir, Execu- tive Director Lau Kiat Hon and Sinotruk General Manager of Asia Pacific Region Yuan Zhong Bo about their partnership, developments and future plans.
Since the inception of this relationship in 2012, the two com- panies had worked together closely in continuous product and brand developments, as well as market research and strate- gies to grow market awareness and penetration.
“We started selling Sinotruk only 3 years ago; to date there are about 300 units of Sinotrucks on the road. As a new brand in the market, we do pride ourselves for being able to achieve such a volume because the total number of prime movers in Malaysia per year is about 1,000 to 1,500 units,” said Hj Emran.
Sendok Group understood that a successful brand could hit the market not only with quality, but also with extensive re- search, data analysis and planning for sales and after-sales services to ensure that the brand was set up on the right path from the beginning.
“We are one of the top players in the market, with more than 90 appointed service dealers across the country. We went into the trade of import-export and wholesale of all kinds of automotive spare parts, including those for commercial vehicles, in 1991. The technician with the right skills and tools, as well as the availability of spare parts helps to maximise uptime. Moreover, with our roadside assistance and breakdown service, we are able to provide our customers 24/7 peace of mind,” added Lau.
To show its long-term commitment to the Malaysian market, Sinotruk set up its office in Kuala Lumpur. “Our trucks are as- sembled by R&A Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd (RACV), a subsidiary of Sendok Group. To provide them better support, we have placed our technicians here,” said Yuan.
Although Malaysia was not a big market, Yuan said it was a gateway to Asean. “We are the biggest heavy duty truck manufacturer and exporter in China. Over the years, Sinotruk

“我们在3年前才开始销售中国重汽品牌卡车,不过截至目前 为止,已经有大约300辆中国重汽品牌卡车在路上穿行。作为 一个新的品牌,我们为能够达到这样的销售量而深感自豪, 因为马来西亚每年的牵引车总销售量不多,仅介于1,000至1 ,500 辆之间。”哈芝恩姆兰说。
