As for the bus segment, Kuchta said, MAN presented the first bus on a low-frame chassis in 1924. In 1943, MAN launched the first gas bus and the MAN Lion's City GL CNG was awarded bus of the year. “We launched the first MAN Lion’s City Hybrid bus in 2010 and it is still one of the most successful solutions until today that offered a 30 per cent saving in fuel consumption.”
Visitors could see a full range of the company’s products. The key topics for MAN at the trade fair was ‘Efficiency and Safety’, which was also well-focused in the five innovative models that the com- pany presented: MAN Lion’s City, MAN Lion’s Intercity, MAN Lion’s Coach EfficientLine, Neoplan Skyliner, and Neoplan Cityliner.
MAN City Buses
The motto of ‘Sustainable Mobility” at this year’s Busworld is reflected more than anything in the evolution of the MAN Lion’s City Buses. Over the past three years, the Lion’s City had been con- sistently product optimised to offer customers the best possible quality and maximum benefit. The key measures implemented: weigh optimisation, improved ease of maintenance, greater passenger capacity as well as significantly lower fuel con- sumption.
Particular attention was paid to efficiency and op-
timisation of fuel consumption. In addition to the various weight-reducing measures and Euro 6 exhaust technol- ogy, there are also features such as Idle Shutdown and the new automatic transmission software for ZF EcoLife Step 3 as well as a new two-stage air compressor. Another highlight at the fair was MAN's new city bus doors, a robust and maintenance-free solution for tough everyday conditions.
Besides the efficiency-boosting measures, MAN also comprehen- sively enhanced its city bus portfolio in driver comfort. For example, MAN is one of the first manufacturers of city buses to offer the new ISRI NTS2 generation of driver's seats as standard, with MAN plac- ing particular emphasis on comfort and ergonomics in the cockpit, the driver's workplace. Key features are the lumbar support, 3D adjustable seat and seat air conditioning.
Lion’s Intercity
The MAN Lion’s Intercity made its first trade fair appearance at Bus- world 2015. It is tailored specifically for long-distance use, or as a shuttle bus, as well as a robust school bus, and combines first class convenience with great functionality and superior safety along with top MAN quality. The vehicle not only sets standards with its strik- ing, aerodynamically optimised design and excellent driving char- acteristics, but first and foremost with its efficient fuel consumption
