  Commercial Vehicle Sales Up 6% in January
1月商用车销售量提高6%
The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has reported a 6% increase in commercial vehicle sales in January, with unit sales rising to 5,905 pieces compared with 65,571 a year ago. This was in contrast to passenger car sales, which inched up only one percent due to consumers holding back their purchases due to the expectation that car prices will be lower once GST is implemented.
Despite the growth in commercial vehicle sales, commercial ve- hicle production fell to 4,267 units from 4,629 units.

 SPAD Plans Schoolbus Industry Shake Up
Aschoolbus transformation programme appears to be on the cards with the news that the Land Public Trans- port Commission (SPAD) is formulating a long-term approach to improve the industry following the expiry of the schoolbus replacement scheme on December 31. SPAD chief executive officer Mohd Nur Ismal Kamal has been quoted as saying that the commission would take a holistic approach in view of the fare liberalisation and was still firm with its policy to replace buses above 25 years old due to safety concerns. “We are determined to transform the industry as well as executing plans to replace ageing buses even though the replacement scheme has ended,” he said. “We are putting together a pro- posal paper to present to government soon.”
According to a report in the Malay Mail Online, Mohd Nur could not say exactly when the transformation programme would kick off, but said the take-up rate of the replacement scheme was poor, despite the attractive financial package of- fered by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) and the government. Throughout the duration of the scheme from January 2013 un- til end of 2014, 1,982 applications were sent to SPAD by 1,990 operators. They wanted to replace 892 long buses, 694 midi buses and 396 school vans. BSN has approved 201 loans out of only 233 applications, with 20 applications rejected due to bankruptcy status and 12 more pending.

据马来邮报的报道表示,莫哈末诺依斯玛无法确定该转型计 划将于何时开始,但他说尽管国家储蓄银行(BSN)所提供的 融资配套非常吸引人,业者的反应却不积极,很少人愿意更 换他们的旧车。从2013年1月至2014年底,陆路公共交通委员 会总共收到了来自1,990 营运者的1,982份申请表格。他们 要更换892辆长巴、694辆迷你巴士及396辆学生车。国家储蓄 银行在233份融资申请表格中,批准了201份申请,因为破产 状态不获批准的有20份,仍待批准的有12 份。
