   Wabco Trailer EBS-E1 Smart Functions Improves Efficiency
Close collaboration with trailer builders, fleet managers, truck drivers and workshop manag- ers worldwide has enabled Wabco to continue introduce several breakthrough features in its Intelligent Trailer Program and further enhance its electronic brak- ing system (EBS) and air suspension functionalities.
As a result of the company’s deep understanding of its customers’ needs, says Ivan Soh, TR-AM Leader, South East Asia Marketing Leader Trailer Systems Asia & Pacific of Wabco Asia Pte Ltd that the outstanding braking performance delivered by Wabco’s Trailer EBS E1 is now further enhanced by two programmes – the Intelligent Trailer Programme and Zero Accident Pro- gramme.
“The Intelligent Trailer Programme consists of OptiLoad TMand OptiTurnTM. The OptiLoad TM ensures intelli- gent distribution of the cargo weight between truck and trailer axles. ” Soh explains, “As a trailer’s cargo is par- tially delivered along its route, the remaining cargo can cause excess pressure on the truck’s rear axle, beyond the legal maximum weight limit. OptiLoad TM redistrib- utes the load over the truck trailer combination without physically moving any cargo, by controlling the trailer’s suspension system.
Meanwhile, he continues, the OptiTurnTM automatically recognises curves and reduces tyre friction on rear axle wheels by partially or fully lifting the axle when the ve- hicle navigates curves at low speed and manoeuvres at loading docks, eliminating the scraping of tyres on the road surface. Using existing air suspension bellows, OptiTurnTM can replace steering axles and significantly reduces tyre wear. It also allows dispatchers to sched- ule delivery routes via smaller roads as drivers can ma- noeuvre short turns more easily.
As for the Wabco Zero Accident Programme, Soh says, the aim is to reduce the frequency and severity of road accidents involving trucks and trailer during ma- noeuvring, as well as loading and unloading through Tilt Alert and Bonce Control functions.
The Tilt Alert assists truck drivers to safely operate trail- ers that raise one end to unload. It warns drivers when the tilting angle reaches the trailer's physical limits of stability. This means increased safety for drivers and vehicles alike.
Last but not least, is the Bounce Control, which Soh says that prevents a trailer from pulsing up and down as brakes are released after the cargo has been loaded or unloaded. It improves safety in the loading zone and avoids damaging vehicles or loading docks.

“智能挂车项目包含了OptiLoadTM和OptiTurnTM。OptiLoadTM确 保卡车与拖车桥之间的智能货物重量分配。”他解释说:“由 于挂车的货物是沿着路线送出去的,剩下的货物可能导致卡车 后桥遭受过多的压力,甚至超越法定的最高载重量。无需真正 搬动任何货物,OptiLoadTM可通过控制挂车的悬挂系统,在卡 车与挂车组合的车桥间重新分配货物的重量。
至于OptiTurnTM,他接着说,能自动检测弯道,并在卡车低速 经过弯道或装卸码头时,通过部分或完全提升后桥减少后轮与 路面的摩擦。利用现有的空气悬挂系统,OptiTurnTM能够替代 转向桥,大大减少轮胎磨损。它也有助于司机采用狭窄的小路 来送货,因为它可使司机轻易应付急转弯。
威伯特零车祸项目的目的,他指出是为了降低卡车和挂车发生 车祸的频率和严重性,以及通过侧倾警报与反弹控制功能来进 行装卸。
侧倾警报协助司机在举升卡车的一边来卸货时,仍能安全运 作。它也会在侧倾的角度超过预设定的界限值时,向司机发出 警告提示。这意味着它能为司机和车子提供更大的安全性。
最后是反弹控制,据Soh说这项装置能避免挂车在上货或卸货 后释放制动器时,上下跳动。它加强装卸区的安全性和避免损 坏车子或装卸码头。
