Premium Bus & Coach Solution at Busworld Asia
 MiX Telematics – in partner- ship with Shanghai Rainbo- way Heavy Vehicle Service Co., Ltd participated in the inaugural Busworld Asia in Guangzhou, China, from 22 to 24 November 2012.
According to Business Development Manager (International) Werner Du Plessis, MiX Telematics is a global provider of fleet management, driver safety and vehicle tracking solution, and a loyal supporter of Busworld and has been actively participating in Busworld exhibitions in other coun- tries. However, this was the first time they participated in Busworld Asia.
“For the last six months, we have ex-
perienced significant growth in Asia.
Thus, the Asian region is an impor-
tant market for us. This exhibition is a platform for us to make bus operators in the region aware of major benefits that result from our industry-leading solutions.”
The company’s aim, according to Du Plessis, is to deliver solutions that help customers drive their fleet operation forward. Having direct control over as- pects like driver behaviour as well as vehicle movement and utilisation, Du Plessis said, operators can look forward to significant reductions in fuel and maintenance costs, while also lowering their accident rates and improving passenger comfort.
Founded in 1995, MiX Telematics is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Ex- change and has offices in South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and the United Arab Emirates. The company spe- cialise in both fleet and consumer telematics, with fleet solutions available in 112 countries via an extensive channel partner network, and consumer solutions available in South Africa.
In Europe, according to Du Plessis, more than 10,000 buses across Spain, Germany, France, Belgium and the United Kingdom have been equipped with a MiX Telematics system, whilst in Australasia, they have secured a contract to monitor 1,100 of the NZ Bus fleet.
“Impressive results have proven that we are a leading fleet management provider in the bus and coach industry. For example, a long-term trial with Sylter Verkehrsgesellschaft (SVG) from Germany revealed a net saving of 2,200 Euros per year per vehicle, while another customer of ours, RATP London United, achieved a 17% reduction in their accident rate, and a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency following the implementation of a customised risk reduction programme.”
