The Perak Lorry Owners’ Association (PLOA) arrived at a major milestone in October 2011 when it celebrated its 50th anniversary by organizing the North Malaysia Truck Show. The exhibition was held from 28th-29th October 2011 in a brand new warehouse facility in Ipoh, loaned by fellow PLOA member Yew Choo Kein, Managing Director of Syarikat Jasa Selamat Sdn Bhd.
To ensure its success, PLOA appointed industry veteran Er Sui See as the organising chairman of the exhibition. The exhibition started in a lively manner with lion dance performances and a huge turnout for the opening ceremony which was officiated by Dato’ Yik Phooi Hoong. In his opening address, Er urged truck owners to take the opportunity to explore the possibilities of upgrading their fleet as the trucks on display are the latest generation models built with new technology.
Dato’ Yik was also invited to officiate the opening ceremony of Scania’s latest service centre, which was located adjacent to the exhibition grounds. Visitors had the opportunity not only to explore the Scania P420 displayed but could also find out more about Scania’s after sales service at this new service centre.
The main attraction was an impressive line up of trucks promi- nently displayed at the exhibition. Dong Feng showcased its latest Kingrun 270 and Kinland 375 trucks. The Kingrun 270, a 4x2 rigid truck which uses the Cummins ISDe270-30 – Euro

3 engine was introduced as a replacement for the Bison 260. The new higher horsepower engine produces more power while maintaining good fuel economy, and the cabin was given an up- grade which features a more contemporary design. In addition, Dong Feng also displayed a new 6x2 variant of the Kinland 375.
Meanwhile, visitors had an opportunity to find out more about MAN’s newly launched TGS WW as well as the CLA trucks at the MAN booth. Over at the Mercedes-Benz / Fuso booth, which was handled by their dealer Man Soon Automobile, visi- tors were enquiring about the popular Mercedes-Benz Actros and Fuso’s FM & FP range of trucks. Also on display and mak- ing its debut was the rugged Volvo FMX, other CV brands in- cluding Hino and Sinotruk.
